FRUIT FLY: COMPOSER (DROSOPHILA·VIOLIN) is an interactive browser-based instrument that turns a simulated fruit-fly brain into a live violin solo. It runs a 32,768-neuron Drosophila connectome in real time; the firing patterns of six major brain regions (optic lobes, antennal lobe, central complex, mushroom bodies, lateral horn, and ventral nerve cord) drive pitch, rhythm, ornamentation, dynamics, and bowing. A custom WASM kernel synthesizes an 8-bit mono bowed-string violin, while the right-hand panel renders the emerging score in “DROSOSCRIPT” notation. The left-hand 3D viewport shows a translucent glass fly whose neural tracts light up with every spike cascade.
