Fruit Fly Park is a browser-based demoscene automata and live neural field station that simulates twelve fruit flies housing a total of 49,000 neurons. One Maestro (conductor, 10,000 neurons) leads five musicians (Violin I, Violin II, Flute, Cello, Double Bass — 3,000 neurons each), two chess grandmasters (10,000 neurons each), and four dancers (1,000 neurons each). Every fly runs a real-time spiking neural network whose sensory, association, and motor regions continuously fire; these spikes directly drive generative music (live sheet-music notation, dynamic chord progressions, tempo, and note density), an actual chess engine with legal-move search and personality-biased play, and four distinct dance styles (jeté leaps, pirouettes, glissades, and walking steps). The entire world is rendered in a naive-stroke, wireframe 3D park scaled ×10, complete with a giant apple pedestal, bandstand, chess table, circular dance floor, lamp posts, trees, and starry night sky, all viewable from multiple camera presets including a close-up “brain cam.”

Enter the park, toggle the simulation, adjust neural rate, musical key/tempo/density, and quality settings, then orbit, zoom, and click any fly to inspect its live telemetry and brain activity. A performance watchdog automatically throttles pixel ratio and simulation steps to maintain frame rate, while the audio engine synthesizes the ensemble in real time and a scrolling score canvas displays the music as it is generated. The result is a self-contained, fully interactive demoscene piece that merges generative music, competitive chess, choreographed motion, and transparent neural dynamics into one coherent, continuously evolving field-station experience.
